Christians Massacred, Most Media Yawn

I profusely apologize. As someone published on a regular basis I should not even be commenting on this and should instead concentrate my efforts more towards proving Bill Barr consumes infants upon request.

But I’m already over my Republican cannibalism story quota for the month, so I guess I’ll just have to try the patience of all and sundry and discourse on a subject that most, not all, media outlets tend to ignore.

It is the story of the last popular prejudice. It’s the tale of a Western culture, whose pseudoelites are so anti-Christian, so biased against basic human decency as long as it fits their twisted narrative, that it will overlook the massacre of innocent men, women, and children by Islamist animals lest the elites be thought “Islamophobic.” It’s like visiting Auschwitz in 1944 and neglecting to mention the Holocaust because you’d be afraid to be termed “Naziphobic.”

The latest sick example of this was yesterday in the African nation of Burkina Faso, as terrorists raided a Catholic church and killed a priest and five parishioners. A government spokesman said the swine also set fire to a hospital. To be ecumenical, likely the same terrorists two weeks ago attacked a Protestant church in the area, murdering six.

No group has yet taken responsibility, but an Islamist group who has been active in the region has run the same maneuver before. In Nigeria, Boko Haram has destroyed over 900 Christian churches.

Researching this piece I found references online to the Burkina Faso story at the BBC, NBC, Fox, CBC, and the Washington Post. It headlined none of them and that is just five who devoted significant coverage out of literally thousands of media outlets who had access to the story. The video coverage on the BBC and NBC treated it as an afterthought. Now I’m not saying no one else covered it. What I am saying is that few seemed to give it a place of prominence. As if it was a yawnfest, an expected event to be slotted in right after sports. Really? When places of worship of non-Christians are targeted the press, as they should, report on the murders with alacrity and detail. Any such act is heinous no matter who is the target. So, why the double standard?

Because in newsrooms, academic lounges, and in the inner sanctums of a certain political party who will not be named…the Dems…Christianity is seen as a sexist right-wing oppressive bastion of an uptight oligarchy dedicated to despoiling the environment and rapacious profits.

The smartass in me wants to respond: If only.

But then pesky things like history and facts get in the way and I remember that today Christians the world over are the ones who face bigotry, who see and hear the faith desecrated all around them, who are murdered in their pews to only get a nonchalant response from much of their fellow man.

Hyperbole? Fiction?

Ask the dead of Burkina Faso.
