First and Second Ladies Recognize Military Children at Fort Bragg

First Lady Melania Trump and Second Lady Karen Pence, along with Secretary of the Army Dr. Mark Esper, traveled to Fort Bragg, North Carolina to celebrate Month of the Military Child with military families.

The visitors observed demonstrations of special forces equipment and capabilities. In her remarks, Mrs. Trump recognized many of the units stationed at Fort Bragg, thanking them for what they do. She continued to thank the 18th Fires Brigade, who recently deployed to the Middle East.

“On behalf of this country, the President and I stand with each man and woman in uniform serving to defend all of us,” Mrs. Trump said to the crowd.

The visiting officials also met with students at Albritton Middle School, located in Fort Bragg. They enjoyed seeing students at a school assembly, hearing the chorus perform, and taking questions. Both Mrs. Trump and Mrs. Pence have consistently displayed a message of support and gratitude to the military community, and to military spouses and children in particular.

“The United States Military is a national treasure and I am so grateful to all the hard working men and women who serve,” said the First Lady. “Thank you to Fort Bragg for welcoming us and letting us inside this tight-knit and admirable community of true heroes.”

Fort Bragg is home to the Army’s Airborne units and Special Operations. It is the largest Army installation and houses over 52,000 active-duty soldiers, 12,000 reserve soldiers, 8,000 civilian employees, 3,500 military contractors, and 62,000 family members.
