Bolshevik Barbie to Vets: Drop Dead

There must be a bookie in Vegas that is laying decent odds that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is a GOP plant. For every time she speaks or proposes something, she makes a case to throw away the Constitution and just install the Republicans forever. Her latest gaffe? Recently telling vets and others that the VA healthcare system “isn’t broken” and provides the “highest quality” care to veterans. She obviously has never set foot in a VA hospital. I have.

In fact, due to doing a serious number on my knee while on active duty, the VA has been a healthcare provider of mine for years. And while the medical types there are fine, the admin staff and system have much to be improved upon.

I’m putting it diplomatically.

Vets in waiting rooms talk and the tales of appointments for serious medical issues not available for months and unioned-up support staff are myriad. But that’s okay with AOC. What apparently frosts her is the Trump administration’s efforts to improve the system by making private physicians available to vets in certain cases. Can’t get in the way of government-directed healthcare, now can we?

After all the scandals and firings at the VA over the last several years you’d think AOC and her ilk would get hip. That they have not makes one wonder if, given their oft-stated view that the U.S. is an evil force in the world (which would make the U.S. military the defenders of such an evil), their goals in this regard are less than sincerely solicitous.

Oh, let’s just say it: Why would a hard-left America hater like AOC care one whit about the proper care of American veterans? By her own ideology she likely thinks we would be better rotting away in the streets, has-been imperialist racist sexist lackeys of Wall Street that we are.

The president and the saner members of Congress do not share her peculiar views and have backed VA reform. Good for them. She will continue to rant on this and other subjects, every utterance a godsend to GOP satirists and campaign honchos.

AOC is the poster girl for what happens when Dems come to power. As long as she’s in office she will aid in that never totally happening, a gift that keeps on giving.

Long may she rave.
