Russian City Runs Out of Beer Due to Swedish World Cup Fans

Swedish fans had some massive celebrations after their team’s 1-0 victory over South Korea. This was their first World Cup victory in 12 years. According to one report, the city of Nizhny Novgorod essentially ran out of beer to serve the celebratory fans. Nizhny Novgorod was the city that hosted the match. Swedish fans have had a raucous start to their 2018 World Cup. The Swedes earned three points in their opening match against South Korea thanks to captain Andreas Granqvist. Judging by the videos of celebratory Swedish fans, the beer shortage had little impact on their ability to enjoy the victory. According to Business Insider some bars were low on supply even before the match kicked off. Sweden is set to play its second match of the group stage against Germany in Sochi on June 23.
