Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg appeared before Congress to answer questions over recent scandal involving the social media platform and data mining. Zuckerberg took responsibility for the sharing of users’ information, while answering routine questions.

The first day of testimony became fiery when Senator Ted Cruz pressed Zuckerberg for answers over whether or not Facebook is biased towards users with conservative political views. According to Zuckerberg, Facebook is a platform for all ideas and discourse is encouraged. Zuckerberg acknowledged that Silicon Valley is “an extremely left leaning place” but said political views have no influence over the social media platform. Cruz fired back with specific examples of conservative voices being shut down on Facebook.

Recently, social media personalities and Trump supporters Diamond and Silk received notice that their content was unsafe and in violation of Facebook standards. When pressed about their Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg didn’t give a clear response.
