Mueller Subpoenas Bannon For First ‘Grand Jury’ Questioning

OpsLens Video

Steve Bannon has been subpoenaed by Robert S. Mueller III to testify before a grand jury as part of the special counsel investigation of Russia’s meddling in the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election.

According to a Wall Street Journal report, President Trump’s former chief strategist may forgo a grand jury appearance if he agrees to less formal questioning in Robert Mueller’s offices.

It is unclear why Bannon has been served with a “grand jury” subpoena while a dozen other administration officials were never subpoenaed at all.

However, it is also unclear whether any of the upcoming grand jury questions will revolve around the unsubstantiated claims made by Bannon and featured in the book, “Fire and Fury,” which set off a hyperpartisan political firestorm these past few weeks.

The claims made include ones against Don Trump, Jr., who Bannon claims will “crack like an egg,” but who in December was previously interviewed by the Senate Intelligence Committee.
