DACA-Supporting Politicians Arrested at Trump Tower Protest

New York City’s Fifth Avenue Trump Tower sidewalks and streets were clogged on September 19, 2017 by DACA-supporting politicians and protesters against immigration enforcement. The politicians arrested by NYPD cops were Congressmen Luis Guttierez (D — Illinois), Raul Grijalva (D — Arizona), Adriano Espaillat  (D — NY), as well as NY City Council Chairwoman Melissa Mark-Viverito.

Evidently, the “peaceful fight” oxymoron Rep. Gutierrez mentioned in his tweet was enough to violate law, resulting in his and others arrests by NYPD police officers.

“Rep. Guttierez, the congressional habitual bad boy of sorts who does not seem to mind placing himself in unlawful positions and getting arrested for those actions, once again finds himself in handcuffs.”

If ever you care to see politicians arrested, just follow Rep. Guttierez around and you are sure to get your fill. He was arrested in August 2017 regarding a DACA sit-in protest in front of the White House. He was also arrested in March 2017 pertaining to a sit-in protest at a Chicago-based federal building, ultimately taken into custody by federal service officers at an ICE regional office.

Mind you, Rep. Gutierrez is the Capitol Hill politician who recently lambasted White House Chief of Staff John Kelly, saying, “General John Kelly is a hypocrite and a disgrace to the uniform he used to wear.”

Rep. Gutierrez often calls President Trump “a serial liar” and uses the phrase “going up against the president” in his oratory support of 800,000 immigrants under the DACA umbrella opened by Obama.

Speaking on the Trump administration initiative to end Obama’s DACA –Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals– Viverito co-authored a press release explaining their actions and cause, saying, “The termination of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program is an unconscionable step backwards that will destabilize communities and tear families apart. Repealing DACA would hurt hundreds of thousands of young immigrants, many of whom have spent the majority of their lives in the United States, and sends a dangerous message to DREAMers that their lives, contributions to the economy and vibrancy of our great nation are inconsequential to this White House.”

Confirming the arrests of himself and political cohorts, Rep. Grijalva seemingly reveled in being taken into custody for “civil disobedience,” tweeting:

And prior to that, he placed himself at the scene before the arrests were official:

Calling it “cruel” and a “very sad day,” Rep. Grijalva published a YouTube video explaining his reaction to President Trump’s September 5, 2017 announcement ending the DACA program. Upon his Congressional website, he also explained how ending DACA would culminate in a billion-plus shortfall in dollars ordinarily amassed by immigrants who have hands in GDP measures. Posted on September 5, 2017, Rep. Grijalva’s video has 298 views as of this writing.

Rep. Guttierez, the congressional habitual bad boy of sorts who does not seem to mind placing himself in unlawful positions and getting arrested for those actions, once again finds himself in handcuffs…and not in House chambers working with American government.
