Report: President Elect Donald Trump Selects Retired General Mattis to Serve as Secretary of Defense

By OpsLens Staff:

According to multiple reports, and to the delight of many active and retired military members, President-elect Donald Trump has selected retired Marine Corps General James Mattis to serve as our nation’s Secretary of Defense.

In order to serve in the position General Mattis will require a waiver from Congress, per U.S. law, which stipulates that individuals must be removed from service for at least seven years before serving as SecDef.
